Welcome to our Southeast church of Christ website!
We are grateful with you for making time to inquire and learn more about us. As members of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, our primary goal is to faithfully serve and worship our God in accordance with His word so that all glory may be His through His son (1st Peter 4:11). Understanding that we are epistles of Christ that are known and read by all men, we strive to show that we have been written by the Spirit of the living God (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3).
We believe that the one true God is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth for that is the worship He seeks and approves (John 4:23-24). We offer praises to our God with the fruit of our lips in song without the use of mechanical instruments (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15). We seek to sing and pray with understanding so that all in attendance may be edified and grow in the grace and the knowledge of our God (1st Corinthians 14:15-17, 2nd Peter 3:17-18). Our prayers are offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the Father so that the Father may be glorified by them(John 14:12-14). Every first day of the week (Sunday) we partake in the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 20:7, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26) and we make a collection for the saints (1st Corinthians 16:1-2, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8). Also in accordance to His will, we assemble in fellowship and study our God's word together admonishing and exhorting each other to stir up love and good works with the whole truth of our God (Hebrews 10:24-25). We diligently work to present ourselves without shame before our God and preach with the purpose to convince, rebuke, and exhort with God's word His truth (2nd Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2). Finally, we press forward and try with our best effort to be the light of this world trying to shine bright to help lead all those who seek God find and glorify Him (Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:14-16).
Therefore, we hope this will shed some light as to who we are and how we worship in spirit and in truth to be found approved servants of God. All of us here at the Southeast church of Christ invite and encourage you to come worship with us so that God may be always praised!
Piercing Through the Curtain of Deception (8-18-19)
By: Obed Pineda Orcas (better known as “killer whales”) are fascinating creatures that are usually found swimming in frigid, coastal waters. Although great white sharks are often considered as the most dangerous predator of the sea due to their vicious tenacity, in reality, marine biologists agree that the Orcas are…
In Search for the Sacred Treasure (8-11-19)
By: Obed Pineda “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” (Proverbs 25:2) One of the greatest thrills that a person can experience is when they discover that which was hidden. Whether decoding the meaning of a…
Forging the Father of Faith: Heaven’s Completed Work (Part 20) (8-4-19)
By: Obed Pineda It is curious how often nature lends its voice to reveal truths about life. For example, when we fix our gaze on the waves of the sea, we learn about the unpredictability of life. Like the tides of the sea, life is full of highs and lows…
Forging the Father of Faith: The Final Exam (Part 19) (7-28-19)
By: Obed Pineda When a sword has been forged and polished by the blacksmith, it must endure one final test phase before it can be deemed complete. This final stage of the forging process is the moment of truth where the quality of the forger’s labor is validated. First, the…
Forging the Father of Faith: A Bitter Separation (Part 18) (7-21-19)
By: Obed Pineda It is often true that one person’s success is another person’s misery. In fact, it is unfortunate to realize that if one seeks to triumph in life, he must also prepare to bear with the burden of envy. Nineteenth-century French poet and novelist Victor Hugo once wrote,…
Forging the Father of Faith: The Promise Fulfilled (Part 17) (7-14-19)
By: Obed Pineda Twenty-five years. This was the number of years that had transpired from the day Abraham received the promise of a son to when it was fulfilled. Holy Writ indeed verifies this fact as it declares that Abraham “was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran” and…
Forging the Father of Faith: The Road to Restoration (Part 16) (7-7-19)
By: Obed Pineda If indeed the skill to create something new is admirable, the same can be said of the craft of restoring it to its original form. Some would make the argument that perhaps it may be slightly more impressive since it involves delving into some other person’s imagination…
Forging the Father of Faith: Tempering Abraham (Part 15) (6-30-19)
By: Obed Pineda For the past several weeks, it has been the goal of this series to learn through Holy Writ the process implemented by God to forge Abraham’s and Sarah’s faith. Verily, it has been thoroughly evinced in the life of this holy couple that “blessed is the man…
Forging the Father of Faith: Standing in Heaven’s Royal Court (Part 14)(6-23-19)
By: Obed Pineda The Bible teaches, “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors, there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14, emphasis added). The validity of this wise statement increases when we learn that it was none other than a king himself who spoke from experience.…
Loving God (6-16-19)
By: Phil Hopkins Over the years I have encountered a number of folks who claim to love God, but they always want to continue to hold on to their various denominational doctrines. Anyone familiar with Christianity realizes that the Christian is to love God, but what does that really mean?…
