Welcome to our Southeast church of Christ website!
We are grateful with you for making time to inquire and learn more about us. As members of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, our primary goal is to faithfully serve and worship our God in accordance with His word so that all glory may be His through His son (1st Peter 4:11). Understanding that we are epistles of Christ that are known and read by all men, we strive to show that we have been written by the Spirit of the living God (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3).
We believe that the one true God is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth for that is the worship He seeks and approves (John 4:23-24). We offer praises to our God with the fruit of our lips in song without the use of mechanical instruments (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15). We seek to sing and pray with understanding so that all in attendance may be edified and grow in the grace and the knowledge of our God (1st Corinthians 14:15-17, 2nd Peter 3:17-18). Our prayers are offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the Father so that the Father may be glorified by them(John 14:12-14). Every first day of the week (Sunday) we partake in the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 20:7, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26) and we make a collection for the saints (1st Corinthians 16:1-2, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8). Also in accordance to His will, we assemble in fellowship and study our God's word together admonishing and exhorting each other to stir up love and good works with the whole truth of our God (Hebrews 10:24-25). We diligently work to present ourselves without shame before our God and preach with the purpose to convince, rebuke, and exhort with God's word His truth (2nd Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2). Finally, we press forward and try with our best effort to be the light of this world trying to shine bright to help lead all those who seek God find and glorify Him (Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:14-16).
Therefore, we hope this will shed some light as to who we are and how we worship in spirit and in truth to be found approved servants of God. All of us here at the Southeast church of Christ invite and encourage you to come worship with us so that God may be always praised!
The Abysses of Sin (6-24-18)
The ocean has always been a fascinating statement of God’s infinite power. Due to its enormity, it is a constant reminder of how tiny we truly are in comparison to it. Its raging waves crashing upon the rocks of the cliffs speak of our inability to tame it, teaching us…
An Ornament of Grace Unto Thy Head (6-17-18)
Crown and diadems have long been used to distinguish an honorable man in public. Kings, queens, and champions were easily recognized by these ornaments that lay upon their brows. History also reveals that in the infant stages of the Olympic Games, a laurel wreath was placed upon the head of…
Reading the Fine Print (6-10-18)
There are words in the English language that are used so often, that we tend to forget their true worth in an expression or a phrase. Words so common in our daily speech, that when ignored they return to haunt us, making their impact last. For example, there is a…
Where is my creed? (6-3-18)
Today, many people want to know exactly where we stand and just what our beliefs are when it comes to political agendas and current events. We live in an age when we are more aware of things that happen, and when they happen, than we have ever been before. We…
Forgotten Values (5-27-18)
During Pharaoh’s asinine refusal to obey Jehovah God’s commandment of freeing Israel, his kingdom suffered vastly from the plagues that came as a consequence of his defiance. Plague after plague, Egypt slowly became depleted to the point where Pharaoh’s own servants pleaded “How long shall this man be a snare…
The Shameful Source of Breaking Vows (5-20-18)
The audience stands and watches in awe as the breathtakingly beautiful woman, draped in an elegant white dress, walks down the aisle. In the front, stands the handsome man donning a polished tuxedo, waiting for the approaching beauty to reach him. Both, man and woman, experience an overflow of emotions…
The Old Shadow (5-13-18)
It is common knowledge that the Holy Bible is a conglomerate of 66 different literary works written by “holy men of God [who] spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2nd Peter 1:21, addition mine). Indeed, to know that approximately 40 writers from different time periods in history…
Just Five Words (5-6-18)
In deciding whether love is conditional or unconditional, may we read Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” God Almighty loved us while we were still engaging in sin. However, the Almighty made the first move of…
Wise Advice from a Pharisee (4-29-18)
“The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd” (Ecclesiastes 12:11) It has been said that insanity can be defined as doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. This, undoubtedly, refers to actions that…
An Overlooked Treasure (4-22-18)
A small act of kindness can often create the greatest ripple in life. Mark Twain once wrote, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Perhaps what makes kindness so special and unique is that typically it manifests itself in the smallest gestures. A…
