Welcome to our Southeast church of Christ website!
We are grateful with you for making time to inquire and learn more about us. As members of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, our primary goal is to faithfully serve and worship our God in accordance with His word so that all glory may be His through His son (1st Peter 4:11). Understanding that we are epistles of Christ that are known and read by all men, we strive to show that we have been written by the Spirit of the living God (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3).
We believe that the one true God is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth for that is the worship He seeks and approves (John 4:23-24). We offer praises to our God with the fruit of our lips in song without the use of mechanical instruments (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15). We seek to sing and pray with understanding so that all in attendance may be edified and grow in the grace and the knowledge of our God (1st Corinthians 14:15-17, 2nd Peter 3:17-18). Our prayers are offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the Father so that the Father may be glorified by them(John 14:12-14). Every first day of the week (Sunday) we partake in the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 20:7, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26) and we make a collection for the saints (1st Corinthians 16:1-2, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8). Also in accordance to His will, we assemble in fellowship and study our God's word together admonishing and exhorting each other to stir up love and good works with the whole truth of our God (Hebrews 10:24-25). We diligently work to present ourselves without shame before our God and preach with the purpose to convince, rebuke, and exhort with God's word His truth (2nd Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2). Finally, we press forward and try with our best effort to be the light of this world trying to shine bright to help lead all those who seek God find and glorify Him (Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:14-16).
Therefore, we hope this will shed some light as to who we are and how we worship in spirit and in truth to be found approved servants of God. All of us here at the Southeast church of Christ invite and encourage you to come worship with us so that God may be always praised!
Hollowing Out the Cross (10-8-17)
In sixteenth century England, history tells the tale of what has come to be known today as the English Reformation; a movement that began due to one king’s fervent desire for a male heir to his throne. Historians tell of how King Henry VIII had made the determination that he…
The Precious Worth of Keeping God’s Word (10-1-17)
The words my mother spoke to me before I departed, when I had to travel for a school event, still resonate very clearly upon my memory. She would speak to me in her gentle, yet firm voice, “Son, just don’t forget who you are. Wherever you go or whomever you…
God’s word is true—2nd Peter 1:14-21 (9-24-17)
Of the apostles, Peter stood forth as the one who was always first in acting. He is frequently criticized for when his faith wavered when he attempted to walk on water (Matt. 14:22-33), but his faith in the Christ was great and remember that he was the only one to…
The Macedonian Model of Selflessness (9-10-17)
Disasters have a unique way of bonding strangers together. Although they are undesirable, the urgency created by them elucidates the true characters of men. The dire circumstances brought about by destruction (whether created by nature or man), can become a powerful agent for unity by providing a common goal for…
Do You Belong to the flock of the Good Shepherd? (9-3-17)
In the Gospel account of John, the Master proclaims “I am the good shepherd” (John 10:11). It was customary for the Lord to use examples from the everyday life of His audience. He used this method as a tool to present important spiritual lessons in a manner that related to…
The Twelves Tribes, Scattered Abroad (8-27-17)
The Bible is composed of books, prose, poetry, and letters better known as epistles. Every one of these works of literature were “given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2nd Timothy 3:16). God, in His infinite wisdom, was well…
The Power of the Gospel (8-20-17)
We tend to pick and choose who we preach the gospel to. We fail to remember that the gospel is for all. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God…
UNITY IN DIVERSITY (8-13-17)
One may ask can you achieve unity in diversity? Can you truly have a diverse group of people, and yet still be unified? The answer is YES, in fact this is what God expects of His people. First, let’s look at unity. Unity is a word that easily rolls off…
Serving God Through One Another (8-6-17)
When we see the phrase “one another” in God’s Holy Word, it is making references to how we should interact with our fellow man and more specifically to other Christians, our brothers and sisters in Christ. First and foremost, because we have submitted ourselves to God in obedience through baptism,…
Are we “apt to teach”? (7-30-17)
Like almost every congregation where I have been a member, we are in need of those willing to teach. Both for the upcoming Wednesday evening topical series, but also in our various bible classes on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. It always seems that those who are willing to help…
