Welcome to our Southeast church of Christ website!
We are grateful with you for making time to inquire and learn more about us. As members of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, our primary goal is to faithfully serve and worship our God in accordance with His word so that all glory may be His through His son (1st Peter 4:11). Understanding that we are epistles of Christ that are known and read by all men, we strive to show that we have been written by the Spirit of the living God (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3).
We believe that the one true God is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth for that is the worship He seeks and approves (John 4:23-24). We offer praises to our God with the fruit of our lips in song without the use of mechanical instruments (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15). We seek to sing and pray with understanding so that all in attendance may be edified and grow in the grace and the knowledge of our God (1st Corinthians 14:15-17, 2nd Peter 3:17-18). Our prayers are offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the Father so that the Father may be glorified by them(John 14:12-14). Every first day of the week (Sunday) we partake in the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 20:7, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26) and we make a collection for the saints (1st Corinthians 16:1-2, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8). Also in accordance to His will, we assemble in fellowship and study our God's word together admonishing and exhorting each other to stir up love and good works with the whole truth of our God (Hebrews 10:24-25). We diligently work to present ourselves without shame before our God and preach with the purpose to convince, rebuke, and exhort with God's word His truth (2nd Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2). Finally, we press forward and try with our best effort to be the light of this world trying to shine bright to help lead all those who seek God find and glorify Him (Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:14-16).
Therefore, we hope this will shed some light as to who we are and how we worship in spirit and in truth to be found approved servants of God. All of us here at the Southeast church of Christ invite and encourage you to come worship with us so that God may be always praised!
The Glorious Vanquish of the King of Terrors. (11-20-16)
“Freedom, isn’t free,” is a widely popular idiom commonly spoken in the United States of America. It is typically used to acknowledge the displayed bravery of those soldiers who laid their lives on the battlefields to secure the freedom this great nation is blessed to enjoy. Needless to say that…
The Great Mystery of Piety (11-13-16)
In his first letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul makes an amazing and astonishing revelation. In it he writes: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by Angels, Preached among Gentiles, Believed in the world, Received up…
Where is Your Focus Today? (11-06-16)
This is a very relevant question that those (Christians) who have obeyed that form of doctrine that has been delivered, (see Romans 6:17-18) should be asking themselves every day of our existence to ensure that our focus/attention is exactly where it should be, which is Jesus Christ and Him crucified…
The Darkest Hours (10-30-16)
In the early morning hours of December 7, 1941, the US Naval base Pearl Harbor received a surprise attack by approximately 200 Japanese aircraft. More than 2,400 American soldiers perished from the remorseless bombing from Japan and it became the action that tipped the scales of the United States’ decision…
An Ornament of Grace Unto Thy Head (10-23-16)
Crown and diadems have long been used to distinguish an honorable man in public. Kings, queens, and champions were easily recognized by these ornaments that lay upon their brows. History also reveals that in the infant stages of the Olympic Games, a laurel wreath was placed upon the head of…
Godly Sorrow (10-16-16)
It is said that there are three parts to a proper apology: 1. What I did was wrong, 2. I feel badly that I hurt you, and 3. How can I make this better? In our last article, we were able to awe at the magnificent restoring power forgiveness contains.…
The Restoring Power of Forgiveness (10-9-16)
Eighteenth century English poet Alexander Pope once wrote, “To err is human; to forgive, divine.” These words spark a question in my mind’s eye: What is more difficult? To ask for forgiveness or to forgive our offender? It is clear that Pope has already provided his answer since he states…
A man attested by God (10-2-16)
A miracle is defined as “an unusual or wonderful event that is believed to be caused by the power of God” (Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary). Like everything else with our God, miracles have (or rather had) a specific purpose for being performed by His servants before the eyes of those who…
“You Almost Persuade Me” (9-25-16)
From the summer of the year 58 AD to the fall of the year 60 AD, the apostle Paul lived as a prisoner of Rome. The Jews from Jerusalem accused him of violating the Law of Moses by preaching the gospel of Christ and diligently sought to kill him. Their…
The Flames of Irreverence (9-18-16)
It is indisputable that God has always demanded to be glorified by and in His chosen people. In every dispensation (Patriarchal, Mosaic, and Christian) God’s chosen people are quickly recognized to belong to Him by the displayed holiness of their lives. A life that easily distinguishes itself from the rest…
