Welcome to our Southeast church of Christ website!
We are grateful with you for making time to inquire and learn more about us. As members of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, our primary goal is to faithfully serve and worship our God in accordance with His word so that all glory may be His through His son (1st Peter 4:11). Understanding that we are epistles of Christ that are known and read by all men, we strive to show that we have been written by the Spirit of the living God (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3).
We believe that the one true God is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth for that is the worship He seeks and approves (John 4:23-24). We offer praises to our God with the fruit of our lips in song without the use of mechanical instruments (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15). We seek to sing and pray with understanding so that all in attendance may be edified and grow in the grace and the knowledge of our God (1st Corinthians 14:15-17, 2nd Peter 3:17-18). Our prayers are offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the Father so that the Father may be glorified by them(John 14:12-14). Every first day of the week (Sunday) we partake in the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 20:7, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26) and we make a collection for the saints (1st Corinthians 16:1-2, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8). Also in accordance to His will, we assemble in fellowship and study our God's word together admonishing and exhorting each other to stir up love and good works with the whole truth of our God (Hebrews 10:24-25). We diligently work to present ourselves without shame before our God and preach with the purpose to convince, rebuke, and exhort with God's word His truth (2nd Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2). Finally, we press forward and try with our best effort to be the light of this world trying to shine bright to help lead all those who seek God find and glorify Him (Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:14-16).
Therefore, we hope this will shed some light as to who we are and how we worship in spirit and in truth to be found approved servants of God. All of us here at the Southeast church of Christ invite and encourage you to come worship with us so that God may be always praised!
Eternity Placed in the Hearts of Man (9-11-16)
The concept of time has always been a fascinating subject of study for man. We are mesmerized by its inescapable velocity with which it travels during our lives. Although the sands of time never stop pouring, man has yet to give up on his hope for freezing time on a…
The Path that Leads to Greatness (9-4-16)
Honor is a privilege that is commonly confused with recognition. In the Old English epic poem Beowulf, this is wonderfully illustrated by the title character’s vague understanding of what it means to be honorable. In the poem, Beowulf’s need to always prove himself a hero to his audience eventually becomes…
The Case of Decaying Bones (8-28-16)
“A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones” (Proverbs 14:30) A wise bear once said, “Only you can prevent forest fires.” Although these words are spoken in a literal sense to advertise and promote caution when putting out camp fires in the woods,…
The Useless Religion (8-21-16)
There are certain questions that we come across during our lifetime that can impact and alter the way that we live. The majority of the time these questions relate to our habits, beliefs, and some times even our personal opinions regarding people or certain practices. Yet, there is one question…
An Ominous Tale of Sheep and Goats (Part II) (8-14-16)
Let us begin by reviewing what we have been able to comprehend thus far. We have learned that the purpose of a parable is to teach a moral or spiritual lesson. It was the preferred style of teaching used by our Savior during His time on this earth. In a…
An Ominous Tale of Sheep and Goats (Part I) (8-7-16)
A parable is defined as a short story that teaches a moral or a spiritual lesson (Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary). Combined, there are approximately thirty parables (taught by the Master) recorded in the four books of the Gospel. Undoubtedly, this was the Lord Jesus’ preferred method of teaching His lessons centralized…
The Waiting Room of the Souls (7-31-16)
The importance of spiritual preparedness has always been manifested by the reality of death. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, always being mindful that life under the sun has a limit that only God can determine must prompt every man and woman to diligently seek Him before it is too…
The Folly of Securing Tomorrow (7-24-16)
“Everything has a solution, except death.” When these words are spoken, they are typically used with the intention of motivating a person who is caught in a difficult challenge. This common phrase seeks to inspire its recipient into a proactive action, not allowing the panic to rise with the idea…
The Challenge of Choice (7-17-16)
A fact that everyone can agree upon is that life, in general, is difficult. It is full of growing pains, trials, losses, and unexpected situations that always appear. Life, however, is also precious and beautiful, full of victories, achievements, milestones, and rewarding surprises. Perhaps what makes our lives so interesting…
The Service of Deacons in the Lord’s Church (7-10-16)
This past Lord’s Day, we studied in our Sunday Morning Adult Bible Class and listened to sermons during our morning and evening worship services on the subject of “The Qualifications of Elders.” Now, this week, we deem it appropriate to highlight and direct our attention and thoughts as a congregation…
