Welcome to our Southeast church of Christ website!
We are grateful with you for making time to inquire and learn more about us. As members of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, our primary goal is to faithfully serve and worship our God in accordance with His word so that all glory may be His through His son (1st Peter 4:11). Understanding that we are epistles of Christ that are known and read by all men, we strive to show that we have been written by the Spirit of the living God (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3).
We believe that the one true God is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth for that is the worship He seeks and approves (John 4:23-24). We offer praises to our God with the fruit of our lips in song without the use of mechanical instruments (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15). We seek to sing and pray with understanding so that all in attendance may be edified and grow in the grace and the knowledge of our God (1st Corinthians 14:15-17, 2nd Peter 3:17-18). Our prayers are offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the Father so that the Father may be glorified by them(John 14:12-14). Every first day of the week (Sunday) we partake in the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 20:7, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26) and we make a collection for the saints (1st Corinthians 16:1-2, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8). Also in accordance to His will, we assemble in fellowship and study our God's word together admonishing and exhorting each other to stir up love and good works with the whole truth of our God (Hebrews 10:24-25). We diligently work to present ourselves without shame before our God and preach with the purpose to convince, rebuke, and exhort with God's word His truth (2nd Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2). Finally, we press forward and try with our best effort to be the light of this world trying to shine bright to help lead all those who seek God find and glorify Him (Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:14-16).
Therefore, we hope this will shed some light as to who we are and how we worship in spirit and in truth to be found approved servants of God. All of us here at the Southeast church of Christ invite and encourage you to come worship with us so that God may be always praised!
Let’s Suffer Together (7-9-23)
By: Orean Brown There is no problem in life more universal, more common, and more unique than that of suffering. It is a common problem of mankind; if we live long enough, we will experience some type or degree of suffering. The willingness to suffer for the cause of Christ…
To Hear the Scriptures, and to Believe in God, and to Have Faith in God, as a Passive Spectator, Will Not Guarantee You a Place in Heaven (7-2-23)
By: John Mitchell We should believe in, and have faith in God, and faithfully read the Bible, and attend Bible studies and worship services. But, a person’s membership, and faithful attendance, in a church congregation, by its self, won’t reserve a place in heaven for anyone. We may look like…
A Dreadful Departure (6-25-23)
By: Obed Pineda In Ezekiel 9:1-6, the Bible speaks about those who received a mark on their forehead identifying them as the people who would be spared from God’s rod of punishment against the sins of Judah. Those who were sealed for salvation obtained this blessing because they were, “the…
The Assembly to Forsake (6-18-23)
By: Obed Pineda The inspired David wrote, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133:1)! There are two possibilities that are suggested by several Biblical scholars as to the scene beheld by David’s eyes that brought forth such an incredible expression…
The Higher Authority (6-11-23)
By: Obed Pineda While He lived on earth, the authority and authenticity of the Lord Jesus as the Messiah was highly contested by His adversaries. Sadly, those who sought to discredit the Savior as Jehovah’s Anointed One were the very religious leaders (i.e., Pharisees, Sadducees, scribes, etc.) whom the people…
The Deceitful “Love” of the World (5-28-23)
By: Obed Pineda It is true that we live in a society where love has been confused with tolerance. Today the father who scolds his son is seen as cruel and unfair. According to the world, everyone has the right to “live his life” as they wish; even if it…
The Love of Traditions (5-21-23)
By: Orean Brown Tradition is basically what has been handed down for the next generation to believe and practice. There is nothing wrong with that. Teachings and practices are meant to be passed down. Indeed, tradition is necessary and unavoidable, and no one is without traditions of some kind (including…
The Antiseptic Influence (5-14-23)
By: Obed Pineda An antiseptic is defined by the dictionary as “a substance that destroys or inhibits the growth or action of microorganisms (such as bacteria) especially in or on living tissue” (Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary). This medicinal substance is vital when trying to reduce the threat of infection, sepsis, or…
Are We Driving the “Get Away” Car? (5-7-23)
By: John Mitchell “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11) “You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others…” (Matthew 5:14-16) Through scripture God tells us that we should let the light of the truth of the Gospel…
Overcoming the Obstacles of Bad Advice (4-30-23)
By: Obed Pineda Sometimes the challenge is not when we lose a friend, but when we have the friend who gives bad advice. It is fair to clarify that a true friend does not do it to harm you, but sometimes they actually believe that they are helping. There is…
