Welcome to our Southeast church of Christ website!
We are grateful with you for making time to inquire and learn more about us. As members of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, our primary goal is to faithfully serve and worship our God in accordance with His word so that all glory may be His through His son (1st Peter 4:11). Understanding that we are epistles of Christ that are known and read by all men, we strive to show that we have been written by the Spirit of the living God (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3).
We believe that the one true God is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth for that is the worship He seeks and approves (John 4:23-24). We offer praises to our God with the fruit of our lips in song without the use of mechanical instruments (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15). We seek to sing and pray with understanding so that all in attendance may be edified and grow in the grace and the knowledge of our God (1st Corinthians 14:15-17, 2nd Peter 3:17-18). Our prayers are offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the Father so that the Father may be glorified by them(John 14:12-14). Every first day of the week (Sunday) we partake in the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 20:7, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26) and we make a collection for the saints (1st Corinthians 16:1-2, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-8). Also in accordance to His will, we assemble in fellowship and study our God's word together admonishing and exhorting each other to stir up love and good works with the whole truth of our God (Hebrews 10:24-25). We diligently work to present ourselves without shame before our God and preach with the purpose to convince, rebuke, and exhort with God's word His truth (2nd Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2). Finally, we press forward and try with our best effort to be the light of this world trying to shine bright to help lead all those who seek God find and glorify Him (Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:14-16).
Therefore, we hope this will shed some light as to who we are and how we worship in spirit and in truth to be found approved servants of God. All of us here at the Southeast church of Christ invite and encourage you to come worship with us so that God may be always praised!
The Worst Choice Ever Made (1-29-23)
By: Obed Pineda Around the year 1050 B.C. the children of Israel made the most tragic and unwise decision in their history, by placing themselves on the “broad…way that leads to destruction” (Matthew 5:13b). The prophet Samuel (and Israel’s last righteous judge) had grown old and he had passed on…
The Missing Preposition (1-22-23)
By: Obed Pineda When committing Scripture to memory, it is common to often overlook the “small” words that are found within the pericope. The group of words that are perhaps almost always dismissed as unimportant are known in English literature as prepositions. Although small in comparison to other words in…
If We Don’t Say No To Ourselves, We Can’t Say Yes To God (1-15-23)
By John Mitchell When we say yes to God’s plan of salvation for us, we have to say no to our old unsaved ways of life. I’ll explain this by looking at God’s plan of salvation. #1 Hear the gospel. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the…
The Siren’s Song (1-8-23)
By: Obed Pineda It has been suggested that legends and myths are not simply fantasized stories told for entertainment, but instead are object lessons purposely hyperbolized so that the listener will not easily forget the instruction. This theory may find some strength if one approaches Greek mythology with it in…
The Simplicity of the Plan of Salvation (12-25-22)
By: Phil Hopkins The Bible and God’s plan for the salvation of mankind is one of the most simplest and easy to understand messages for all of mankind. The scriptures that tell a person how to become a Christian are plain and understandable. What is truly flabbergasting is how difficult…
Are You Walking in the Light? (1-1-23)
By Zachary Teasley During the 4th Quarter of the Year 2022, during our Adult AM Bible Class and during our Adult Wednesday Night Bible Class, we listened to and we hopefully learned from these series of lessons on worldly (man-made) behaviors, superstitions, traditions, holidays, festivals, and sayings that could very…
Wishful Thinkers (12-18-22)
By: Obed Pined When someone faces a truth that is difficult or unpleasant to accept and instead chooses to remain in a constant state of denial, vehemently rejecting all logical evidence that substantiates it as fact, it is concluded that this person is in a state of wishful thinking. This…
A Tumbling Loaf of Barley Bread (12-11-22)
By: Obed Pineda “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the LORD” (Proverbs 21:31). During Israel’s post-exilic era, the Jews that had returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel and Jeshua had ceased the rebuilding of the temple because of their adversaries, the Samaritans (cf. Ezra…
Have You Made God an Idol of Your Own Creation? (12-4-22)
By: John Mitchell “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness’” (Genesis 1:26). God is the Creator, and we are the created. Or, are we, the created, creating in our minds a different god, from the God who created us? When we read the…
Healing Waters of Understanding (11-27-22)
By: Obed Pineda It had been a long and eventful day for the Master and His twelve. Mark relates that after returning from a successful campaign of preaching, healing the sick, and casting out demons from the possessed, Jesus instructed His disciples “‘Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place…
