In this last article for 2018, it is fitting and important to reflect on some of the truly outstanding facts or evidences about “our Father which art in heaven,” (Matthew 6:9), understanding who God is as our Creator and Lord, and how much He loves us. God has clearly and undoubtedly proven how He loves us in word and deed by creating this earth for us making provisions for us so that we may have the opportunity to find our way back to Him through Jesus Christ. Psalms 24:1, says “The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of salvation.” The Lord has given us an avenue of reconciliation if we humbly seek, obey and serve Him faithfully, and then, He makes Himself accessible to us. Hebrews 11:6 states that, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Continually, throughout Holy Writ, we find evidences and references that help describe who God is, His lovingkindness toward mankind, this earth, and the infinity to His magnificent power and might. It is through divine inspiration by the revelation of the Holy Spirit that we can capture a glimpse into understanding who God is and how blessed we are to be in His Kingdom (the church). 2nd Peter 1:19-21, confirms this point for it says, “And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” The Bible or God’s inspired Word is that light that illuminates and helps us to know and understand who our Lord is and the innumerable things that He has done for us. Speaking of spiritual evidences or incite about Jehovah God let us examine a few scriptures to help us understand what the Lord has done. In Genesis 1:3 and verse 31, He spoke light in existence, “Then God said, “Let there be light”, and there was light.” “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” This past Wednesday Night during our devotional hour, Brother Orean Brown did a masterful job in explaining some of the magnificent things about our earth that we live on and the way that different parts of the earthwork together so harmoniously. For example, the earth is in the most perfect location from the Sun to allow the earth’s lifeforms to co-exist such as the plants, animals, and human life. He pointed out that the only way that all the matter and lifeforms on earth function, i.e., gravity, is not by accident but was planned, created and designed by the Almighty God! The Prophet Isaiah confirms this point in Isaiah 45:18, for it says, “For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord, and there is no other.” One of the great evidences and wonders of creation is when God made mankind, you and me! When was the last time you picked up a Biology Book, paper or electronic, and examined all of the differently systems that make up our body and how small and refined some of these systems and body parts are like the heart, veins, capillaries, and the extraordinary human eye? There is no doubt that there had to be a divine designer and creator, God! Genesis 2:7, says “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” King David in Psalms 139:13-14 gives God the glory for creating him for he says, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” Especially, keep in mind that we have a physical and spiritual makeup, the body and the spirit, and that spiritual part of which gives us life is made in the image of God, Ecclesiastes 12:7, confirms this for it says, “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.” All we need to do to recognize the wonderful works is to examine ourselves and our sophisticated makeup or the depth and vastness of the ocean or even yet look up in the sky and watch the sunset and the day turn tonight. We can physically be eyewitnesses of God’s power and glory. Psalms 19:1, speaks to this for it says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.” A couple more things to remember of significance when we are talking about evidences or proofs of God’s divine work is that He loves us at the highest level of love exhibited in that God the Father sent His Son Jesus to the earth for the redemption of mankind. He was born, died, and was resurrected and ascended back to Heaven and the following names are given to describe Christ: Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace., see Isaiah 9:6. We as Christians must take up our crosses daily and acknowledge Him (Christ), not only just one traditional secular time of the year. Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” In Acts 1, we read that there were eyewitnesses (disciples) to Christ’s ascension to Heaven which is further proof of who God is and we close this article with the heavenly scene depicted in Revelation 15:3 where the saints who won the victory over Satan were gathered together and they sang “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty!” This brethren is something we should all be hoping and praying for in the near future.! Please reflect and be thankful for how our God has helped you physically and especially spiritually and let us strive together as a body of Christians to continue to grow and actively increase our faith in 2019. We have a lot to be thankful for in Christ!
